“Pengelolaan Hutan dan kehutanan di Indonesia sangat menjadi perhatian Presiden RI Joko Widodo, karena Presiden juga seorang rimbawan (Forester)” tutur Menteri LHK, Siti Nurbaya, dan pernyataan tersebut disambut meriah dengan bersorak “Yes” oleh Ms. Vicki Christiansen Pimpinan USFS yang juga seorang Forester, pada pertemuan di sela-sela agenda COFO 24 di Roma (19/07/2018), waktu setempat.

Memperkuat langkah korektif di bidang kehutanan, Indonesia kembali meningkatkan kerjasama dengan berbagai negara, salah satunya United States Forest Service (USFS). Di bawah koordinasi U.S. Department of Agriculture, atau Departemen Pertanian Amerika Serikat, USFS mengelola 154 Hutan Nasional dan 20 savana di 43 negara bagian di Amerika Serikat dan Puerto Rico. Tugas dan fungsi USFS antara lain untuk menjaga keanekaragaman hayati, dan produktifitas hutan taman nasional, perlindungan dan savana.
